  • Do You Need Hours of Continuing Education (CE) or Continued Professional Development (CPD)?
  • Would You Like to Do Any of the Following in a Fun, Educational and Stimulating Environment?

If So, Our Advanced Animal Chiropractic Course is For You!

The Advanced Animal Chiropractic Course is designed to fulfill the needs of the practicing Animal Chiropractor.  Too many times we feel the need for just ‘one more tool’, or ‘an easier way’, or even the thought of ‘there has to be more’.  You’re instincts are right!  At Option for Animals we appreciate your skills as an accomplished Animal Chiropractic; and we also can respect and understand your practice frustrations.  After all, at Options we are all field Animal Chiropractors ourselves, and have walked in your shoes.

The Basic Animal Chiropractic Courses all of you have completed could be considered the ABC’s of Animal Chiropractic; and now, some of you are ready to read Shakespeare.  At Options for Animals we can make it happen.  Let’s ‘Tame the Shrew’ together; it’s just a short trip away.  Come join your colleagues in thought-provoking discussions that will take you to the next level.  And at Options, we always find a way to have a little fun and entertainment along the way!

The Course is the perfect opportunity to obtain those dreaded CE/CPD hours in a stimulating, motivating and productive way.  Although the entire course consists of six (6) modules, they are designed to be taken in any order, any sequence and over any time frame.  Many students take individual modules just for the information, never intending to complete the Advanced Certification.  The choice is yours!

Most of the Advanced Modules are held in conjunction with another CE/CPD course such as Logan Quadruped Technique, Sacro-Occipital Technique and the Equine Hoof and Ankle.  This way you also have the choice of a three day 20 CE hour course or a combination four day course of 32 CE hours.

We know you have hectic schedules, always having to shuffle practice, family and education; so we make it our Goal to give you as much variety as possible!

Prerequisites:

Students accepted for the Advanced Course must be Doctors of Chiropractic and/or Doctors of Veterinary Medicine.  They must supply documents confirming that they have completed a Basic Animal Chiropractic Course that was approved by the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association (AVCA) and/or the International Veterinary Chiropractic Association (IVCA).  A copy of the applicant’s certificate of completion is required at the time of registration.

Course Overview:

The course consists of a minimum of 130 hours of classroom and laboratory education, and 125 hours of home learning.  School attendance is offered in a six module system.  The length and timing of these modules are offered in several formats.  (See Schedules)  Modules can be taken in any order and consist of Advanced Sacropelvic, Advanced Thoracolumbar, Advanced Cervical, Advanced Extremity, Advanced Integrated One and Advanced Integrated two.  There is no time limit to complete the Advanced Course as practice experience is part of the curriculum.  (It generally takes at least three years to complete the Course.)  Any Advanced Module can be attended at any time for Continuing Education Credits with no obligation to complete the Advanced Certification.  Home learning consists of reading, internship where each participant must spend at least three days at the office of someone in the opposite profession, and each participant must complete some form of research project.  In addition, each doctor must prepare and present two complete case presentations at one of the six advanced modules they attend.  After completing all the before-mentioned parts, the participant will receive an Advanced Animal Chiropractic Certification.

Curriculum:

The curriculum is diverse.  Topics range from a review of techniques and hand and body position to the study of the advanced biomechanics of the stomatognathic system and engagement.
Other topics include: Advanced Adjusting and Manipulative Techniques for the Pubic and Ischial Symphysi, Ventral Ribs, Sternum and Anterior Cervicals; Performance related events and their inherent troubles for the animal athletes in Dressage, Show Jumping, Reigning, Cutting, Western Pleasure, Standard- Bred and Thorough-bred racing, Agility, Sled-dog and Greyhound Racing, Lure-coursing, Fly-ball and many more; Introductions to Grostic, Applied Kinesiology and Activator Techniques; Biomechanical Ramifications of Rollkur, TMJ and Frisbee, and Performance Gaits; and hours of Hands-On Laboratories that include New Techniques, sharing of new and modified techniques and clinical management of the horse and dog as a whole, emphasizing common integrated management of pathologies such as OCD, Hip Dysplasia, Cruciate Tears, Navicular and Laminitis.

Students can expect a rigorous and thorough education and review of anatomy, neurology, biomechanics, pathology, physiology, ethics and legalities, rehabilitation, diagnosis and philosophy as well as hours of hands on individual laboratory instruction in new and exciting adjusting techniques and advanced clinical management.

Graduation

Upon successful conclusion of the course a certificate will be issued by the College.

Many states do accept the hours for CE/CPD requirements for chiropractors and veterinarians.  Please check with your individual Boards.  Some classes each year meet the standards for Animal Chiropractic CE required by the state of Oklahoma and Minnesota for their animal chiropractic registries.  Please ask our staff for specifics.
